WBW Surveyors Ltd - Skipton Auction Mart have been asked by Natural England to offer 192 acres of summer cutting and grazing land for let from 1st July. Being in a SSSI and Nature Reserve, Natural England’s preference is for native breeds to graze the land. Inaugural Beef Shorthorn Society award goes to Queen’s University’s and CAFRE’s Orla Kelly

Orla Kelly, a second year student studying BSc (Hons) Agricultural Technology, at Queen’s University Belfast and CAFRE is the winner of the inaugural Beef Student of the Year award presented by the Beef Shorthorn Society. She received the £2,000 award in Edinburgh this week, whilst the university she represented was presented with £1,000 towards a beef educational project.

Joanna Bailey has been appointed secretary of the Beef Shorthorn Cattle Society from 1 August. She brings 25 years of experience working in the industry, from grass roots to supply sector and moves to the position from her role as commercial manager for NSF Agriculture where she was responsible for a broad range of business growth led activity including marketing, shows, events and sponsorship.

The Beef Shorthorn Society has announced new structural arrangements from 7 April, with the appointment of its own secretary and accompanying administration. The decision was made by the society’s board of directors, after sharing arrangements with the Shorthorn Society for the last 35 years.
