Beef Shorthorn continues on a roll

The Beef Shorthorn Society has reported yet another record uptake. Registrations increased by 8.92% to 3,833 head in the last 12 months, adding to the five year trend – up by over 39% since 2010. In addition, membership rose by 11% to 842, a 42% increase in the last five years, society president, Geoff Riby told the annual meeting in Stirling.

We had a wonderful day at the Stirling bull sales yesterday hosting our patron, HRH The Princess Royal who has an in depth knowledge of cattle breeding and appreciated the very high health standards which the breed has attained.

She is a great supporter of and ambassador not only for Beef Shorthorn but also for the agricultural industry.

Shorthorn cross heifer won MacDuff Beef Carcase Show Championship

The 14th Annual MACDUFF Beef Carcase Show and Sale 2015

T.M. Taylor of Heatheryhall Farm, Thankerton won the MACDUFF Beef Carcase Show 2015 supreme champion with a Shorthorn Cross heifer weighing 333 kilos, which sold, at £2297 to Jason Hamon of Forest Stores, Guernsey for sale in their shop for Christmas.

The winning heifer was sold by J W FRame, Little Galla, Wiston, Biggar; at a store sale and purchased by the Taylor Bros.

The champion heifer was sired by their stock bull "Kidston Rambo".
